Volvo coming with its latest 2011 V60 Wagon automobile. The new 2011 Volvo V60 is the first sports car to feature the Advanced Stability Control. 2011 Volvo V60 will be available in three petrol variants with a 3.0L, 2.0L, 1.6L engines and two five cylinder diesel variants. Coming to the diesel variants, it will be available in D5 and D3 five cylinder turbodiesels.

At the Los Angeles Design Challenge Competition, Volvo took the open-air experience at a whole new level with its ‘lighter than a Formula 1 racing car’ study project – the Volvo Air Motion. Besides its strong yet ultra-light body structure, the Air Motion concept cars vehicle further adds to its superlatives eco-friendliness, as it is not using a single drop of gasoline while driving wild.

Volvo Air Motion is a sports cars that runs on powerful, yet simple compressed air motors that, unlike an internal combustion engine, cools down under load rather than heat up. The air tank is centrally mounted and receives compressed air through wind-powered air replenishment sites that float 1000ft in the air. Its beautiful Scandinavian body is designed like a clam shell and sculptured from ultra light carbon fiber.

The 2010 Volvo Sport Cars Air Motion Concept was developed around the idea that minimizing the weight and complexity means maximizing driving enjoyment. Volvo built the cars with fewer components and replaced the heavy internal combustion engine with powerful, yet simple, compressed air motors.

To compress the air needed for the centrally mounted air tank, Air Replenishment Sites are used. Powered by air turbines floating 1,000ft in the air they harness the power of the wind and convert it to electricity to provide the compression. The motors cool down with increased load, instead of heating up, which eliminates the need for cooling systems. The chassis, interior and suspension employ an integrated design which brings a notable contribution to the lowered weight.

Volvo XC60 T6 AWD R-Design is equipped with a standard 3.0-liter, with a power of 300 @ 5600 rpm and torque of 325 @ 1500-4800 rpm that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.

The main notable feature of this new 2011 Volvo XC60 is that it boasts of an Automatic Braking System (ABS) for city safety, which includes an assembly of a laser and a camera, which will reduce the rate of collisions drastically. The SUV reaches from 0 to 100km/hr in just 7.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 210 km/hr.

Volvo Out For New Generation Of Hometown Heroes

For the fifth year in a row, the Volvo Cars of North America is out on a hunt. They are not looking for a particular place or spot to bury a new and uniquely themed vehicle like the Volvo XC90 Pirate Themed Search. This time around, they are on the search for a hometown hero which they would be awarding as part of the company's Volvo For Life Awards.

The Volvo For Life Awards has been done for five years already, with this year counting as the fifth. It is a national public service program and what it does is it actually recognizes and honors those hometown people who have become heroes in their own ways and scopes of work. Of course, the company is not just looking for anybody. They would like to honor a person who has become a hero through his or her efforts at making moves to improve the safety and quality of life in their community. Or these new set of heroes may have been working towards a better quality of the environment. If you know one, you can nominate him or her and celebrate this person's everyday heroism.

The new model strengthens Volvo's position in the premium estate

Volvo would be selecting the overall winner. There would only be one winner, of course, and he or she would be named "America's Greatest Hometown Hero."
